The Beginning

Theatre 282 was formed over 30 years ago out of a Youth Group which met at Blakedown Youth Club. As a number of the members became too old to take part at Youth Festivals, a drama group was formed to accomodate all age groups. Theatre 282 was born!

So why 282?

The formation of the group coincided with the introduction of telephone STD codes, and Blakedown was to get the STD code 282. This seemed a perfect opportunity to name the group. In the event, Blakedown's STD code became just 82 but Theatre 282 had a 'ring' to it (sorry!) so the name stuck.
